Style Rider aims to document the world’s most stylish motorcycle riders, be they riders of classic, custom or cafe racer steeds. Focused on the intersection of motorcycle culture with individual style, here we speak to Tokyo based rider of vintage Harley Davidsons and Shop Manager of Trophy Clothing, Kazushige ‘Shige’ Fujihara.
Name: Kazushige ‘Shige’ Fujihara
Residence: Tokyo, Japan
Occupation: Shop Manager / Production Trophy Clothing
Instagram: @shige_1957
Today’s ride: 1957 Harley Davidson Panhead
Describe your style: A mixture of heavy-duty workwear and vintage items. This style of clothing works well for me when I am at work and when riding my motorcycle through the streets of Tokyo. It feels great to wear practical, hard-wearing and stylish clothing.
Favourite item: Trophy Clothing Hunting jacket pictured.
Next purchase: Telescopic front forks for my Harley. While I like the look of the current 1940s Springer forks, I would like to update to the later Telescopic style.
Style inspiration: Masaki Egawa, Trophy Clothing owner and his friends. They all have exceptional vintage Harley Davidsons and early Indians and ride these with style around Japan.
Best local ride: The 100 kilometres plus ride from Tokyo to Chiba to go surfing.
Tip for stylish riding: Go classic and wear denim. The key is to develop your own style; trying various things until you establish your personal style.
Next trip: Tokyo to Kanazawa, a 1,000-kilometre ride to the Western Edge of Japan.
Why do you like riding? It is a refresh of the mind and body; a release after a long day at work.
