Style Rider aims to document the world’s most stylish motorcycle riders, be they riders of classic, custom or cafe racer steeds. Focused on the intersection of motorcycle culture with individual style, here we caught up with Phon Hansana riding a 1988 Honda Steed VT600 Bobber at the 2020 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride.
Name: Phon Hansana
Residence: Sydney, Australia
Occupation: Head of Technology
Instagram: @mr_hansana
Today’s ride: 1988 Honda Steed VT600 Bobber
Describe your style: Classic Gentleman where the suit meets the biker.
Favourite items: Belstaff Leather jacket matching essentials and my well-worn brown leather boots from Thursday Boot Co USA. Saint Denim vest or Shacket to dress it down or zip down to the local cafe. All my double-breasted blazers and waistcoats for when I need to be gentlemen-ly.
Next purchase: Can’t decide, but it’s a toss-up between a 1979 shovelhead or modern Harley made into another bobber.
Style inspiration: Cary Grant mixed with Thomas Shelby.
Best local ride: Newtown to La Perouse.
Best distance ride: RNP because my backside doesn’t like long rides on a rigid bike.
Tip for stylish motorcycling: Look good first, go fast never. Better to be alive and beautiful than breaking a lap record and dying. Whatever your style make sure it’s consistent and flows head to toe.
Dream riding kit: Ruby or Qwarts Helmet. The rest I have.
Next motorcycle trip: To Rising Sun Workshop and service my bike!
Why do you like riding? Making lots of exhaust noise, looking cool and having the freedom and mental space while riding. Nothing else to think about. It’s an escape.
