Style Rider aims to document the world’s most stylish motorcycle riders, be they riders of classic, custom or cafe racer steeds. Focused on the intersection of motorcycle culture with individual style, here we speak to Luciana Rossi, lawyer and Moto Guzzi rider.
Name: Luciana Rossi
Residence: Wollongong, Australia
Occupation: Lawyer, Rossi Simicic Lawyers.
Today’s ride: Moto Guzzi V7 Racer 750cc. It was bought for its looks and the auspicious number 7.
Describe your style: Velvet and animal prints. I like structured, slimmer fitting clothes in tactile fabrics. In the warmer months, I switch to florals. To work, I wear Cue suits as they are still made in Australia, and I ride my little red Vespa in my heels. I like to support Australian designers and will wear Ginger & Smart for weddings and major events.
Favourite items: Shoes. I have over 90 pairs. My favourite pair are impossibly high red crocodile shoes bought in Italy.
Next purchase: Mui Mui black handbag with diamanté clasp.
Style icon/inspiration: Everyone in my family is stylish and has an interest in fashion. My father was an elegant man from northern Italy, and this rubbed off on us as we were growing up.
Best local ride: Woollongong to Stanwell Tops
Tip for stylish motorcycle riding: Ride a Vespa to work in your suit and heels. Nothing makes construction workers stop more than a well-dressed woman on a bike in stilettos. Alternatively, wear Knox undershirts under your suit jacket. These slimline beauties have back, shoulder and elbows protection and fit nicely under a blazer.
Next trip: Costa Rica and Columbia
Why do you like riding? I started riding after I had breast cancer in 2009. We went to Thailand to recover and saw scooter riders. I thought I am going to do that. My husband Rob came home with a red Vespa as a present, and that opened up a love of bikes leading to buying my first Moto Guzzi in 2011.
