Style Rider aims to document the world’s most stylish motorcycle riders, be they riders of classic, custom or cafe racer steeds. Focused on the intersection of motorcycle culture with individual style, here we speak to Ducati 996 rider Lauren about quality gear and not settling for what is easily available.
Name: Lauren A
Residence: Sydney, Australia
Occupation: NSW Government
Instagram: @00_LA_
Today’s ride: 2000 Ducati 996 customised with magnesium wheels, Öhlins suspension, STM slipper clutch and RCS Master Cylinders. This bike was signed by Troy Bayliss as he won the Superbike World Championship on a 996RS in 2001.
Describe your style: Comfortable yet safe. Almost all my clothes are black and this works well with my yellow Ducati.
Favourite items: Pando Moto Kusari Jeans, Sidi/Ducati leather jacket, TCX Smoke riding boots and my Shoei helmet custom painted by Colourfuel.
Next purchase: John Doe Sixty Boots in bordeaux.
Style inspiration: If I find good quality gear that fits well and does the job I need it to, I take it and run. Good women’s gear is hard to find.
Best local ride: The twists and turns of the Old Pacific Highway.
Best distance ride: The Great Ocean Road; Petersborough to Apollo Bay; especially now while there are no tourists!
Tip for stylish motorcycling: Don’t settle for what is easily available. Good women’s gear does exist, you just need to be patient and search for it.
Dream riding kit: Custom made leather racing suit.
Next motorcycle trip: North to Byron Bay, taking every good road in-between.
Why do you like riding? I love the freedom of it. Riding is almost meditative for me. No matter what my week has been like, I can swing a leg over the old girl and it all just disappears. Riding is my reset.
