Style Rider aims to document the world’s most stylish motorcycle riders, be they riders of classic, custom or cafe racer steeds. Focused on the intersection of motorcycle culture with individual style, here we speak to Mr Jason Parry about riding something a little unconventional and creating your own style.
Name: Jason Parry (JP)
Residence: Gadigal Country, Eora Nation / Darlington, Sydney, Australia
Occupation: A&D Engagement Manager, James Richardson Furniture
Instagram: @jasonparryau
Today’s ride: Hunter Scooter, Series One. I wanted something fun and unconventional – bingo!
Describe your style: Uniform Rocker / Glam Rocker – uniforms are the everyday, work and play, dressed down occasionally by tour t-shirts. When the need arises, I have some signature accoutrements.
Favourite items: My rings – there is a story for each of them, I just wish I had lots more fingers, but that might be too creepy.
Next purchase: My purchasing habits are organic and infrequent, at best – it could be art, jewellery, furniture (an occupational hazard), or a little something for the scoots – I do have my eye on a set of HID headlamps.
Style icon/inspiration: I take inspiration from the 50s, early rock ‘n’ rollers and rarely stray away from black. Dickie’s, Carhartt and Converse are my staples.
Best local ride: La Perouse to Watson’s Bay is hard to beat, in this city at least.
Best distance ride: For scooters, distances are usually short, but I do enjoy the Royal National Park ride as one of the longer ones.
Tip for stylish motorcycle riding: Carry a comb; life’s too short for helmet hair.
Next motorcycle trip: National Scooter Rally, Kuringgai Country / Umina NSW. It’s my first time, so I’m looking forward to seeing great machines.
Why do you like riding? It is all about the clichés – wind in your face and the sun on your back; it’s the solitude and comradery all at once; time to switch off and roll on. Dealing with mental health issues for many years now, I find it very helpful with clearing the clutter in mind and draw focus on the essential things in life.
