Style Rider aims to document the world’s most stylish motorcycle riders, be they riders of classic, custom or cafe racer steeds. Focused on the intersection of motorcycle culture with individual style, here we speak to Hanan Benda aka ‘Mister Hipster Barbershop’ about fast motorcycles and hip hop style.
Name: Hanan Benda
Residence: Sydney, Australia
Occupation: Barber and owner of Mister Hipster Barbershop
Instagram: @Mister_Hipster_Barbershop
Today’s ride: 2010 BMW S1000RR with modifications including custom paint, Yoshimura R-55 exhaust, Rizoma rear sets, Pazzo leavers, GB Racing engine and clutch cover protectors. The Barbie riding pillion is all about putting a smile on people’s faces, especially kids. They love it.
Describe your style: I am more like a modern hip hop kinda guy. I have a big collection of high tops and snap back hats so you always see me with that. I wear what ever makes me feel good and unique.
Favourite items: My motorcycle collection. In addition to the BMW S1000RR, I ride a 2014 KTM SUPERDUKE 1290R, 2016 Ducati Panigale 959 and 2012 KTM SXF-350.
Next purchase: I don’t have anything on the ‘to buy’ list but it could be another motorbike. Because I had so many bikes in the past it’s hard for me to tell. Maybe the new BMW S1000RR.
Style inspiration: A mix of hip hop with modern style.
Best local ride: The Eastern suburbs costal ride taking in La Perouse to Watson’s Bay.
Best distance ride: The 350 kilometre loop from Pitt Town to Wisemans Ferry through Wollombi all the way to Broke then back to Pitt Town via Putty Road.
Tip for stylish motorcycling: For me to be well protected is much more important then to look stylish. Saying that, all my gear is matching.
Dream riding kit: A Moto GP bike! Any Moto GP bike will do but if to pick one it would be the Yamaha YZR-M1. Yamaha was my first ever ride and while I don’t own one today, I still a huge fan.
Next motorcycle trip: The Oxley Highway.
Why do you like riding? Because riding is pure freedom! The moment I put my helmet on I’m in a different world. I love it!
