Style Rider focuses on the intersection of motorcycle culture and individual style. Here we speak to Triumph Thruxton 1200R rider Aldrin Alban about stylish protection, his interest in vintage clothes and passion for motorcycles.
Aldrin’s biker style brilliantly juxtaposes with the modern look of the Triumph Thruxton R cafe racer, making for an unexpected pairing. His vintage, paint-spattered Carhartt pants paired with a traditional striped Triumph long-sleeve T-shirt, Red Wing boots and long hair make for a compelling image.

Today’s ride: 2016 Triumph Thruxton 1200R
Describe your style: I like to wear proper bike gear on longer rides and hard wearing casual clothes on shorter trips. Today I’m wearing Red Wing Iron Rangers boots, vintage paint splattered Carhartt trousers, Triumph striped shirt, Saint denim jacket, Biltwell helmet and Deus gloves.
Style inspiration: I like the whole vintage look; bobbers, cafe racers and knuckleheads. Currently I ride the Thruxton R, so it’s cafe racers. I like to mix a more traditional biker look (long hair, beard, tattoos, boots, etc) with the cafe racer. It feels less expected.
Best local ride: Macquarie pass and Jamberoo. Windy roads and smooth tarmac. Perfection.
Tip for stylish motorcycling: Have your own look and wear something that works on a motorcycle. Saint and Clutch Moto are two brands that offer stylish protection. You can’t go wrong.
Why do you like riding? It’s therapeutic, being in my own element. I have been riding for well over twenty years now and could not give it up.
