Lavender Bay Parklands, in the shadow of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, features a delightful selection of artworks and small sculptures. Walking away from Luna Park along the wooden boardwalk, you will find a number of sculptures hidden amongst the bushes commencing at Arthur ‘Art’ Barton Park. The sculptures are of famous characters from Australian children’s literature including Blinky Bill, Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, the Magic Pudding and Ginger Meggs. This section of the walk is dedicated to Arthur ‘Art’ Barton who worked as a Luna Park artist for 33 years, painting amongst his many other accomplishments, the ‘happy face’ entrance gate built in 1959.
