Reuben Mardan’s focused coffee operation on Holt Street in Surry Hills has spawned a second cafe/roasting facility in St Peters. Housed in a rapidly changing industrial complex, Reuben’s simple mission of bringing pleasure to ones morning coffee ritual remains. Sample Coffee Roasters were awarded two cups in the SMH Good Cafe guide with Reuben named 2014 Barista of the year.
Update: Sample’s expansion into the two spaces next door is now complete. The larger of the two is a beautiful, light-filled warehouse space which has been opened as a cafe with pastries and a limited food menu. The space has a wonderful, industrial feel with key pieces of artwork along three of the walls.
