Style Rider aims to document the world’s most stylish motorcycle riders, be they riders of classic, custom or cafe racer steeds. Focused on the intersection of motorcycle culture with individual style, here we speak to Louis Reeves about wearing your Dad’s first leather jacket and vintage dirt bike riding.
Name: Louis Reeves
Residence: Sydney, Australia
Instagram: @highzootaction
Today’s ride: Sol Invictus 400 classic scrambler.
Style icon/inspiration: A mish-mash of influences including On Any Sunday, musicians from the 1960s and 70s, and the playboys from the golden era of racing, Barry Sheen and James Hunt.
Favourite items: My Dad’s first leather jacket and the Bultaco t-shirt I am wearing. My father used to ride speedway for Bultaco, so I like the connection.
Next purchase: Some Biltwell race gear for my 1973 MX250 Yamaha flat tracker.
Best local ride: As I’m new to Sydney, I tend to head off in a different direction each time. My favourite route so far takes in Dural, Wiseman’s Ferry, Windsor and Oran Park.
Best distance ride: The Alpine Way in the Snowy Mountains. This road is around 700 kilometres south of Sydney and features windy mountain roads and alpine plateaus.
Tip for stylish motorcycle riding: Go with what you feel and have fun.
Next motorcycle trip: NSW North Coast to see beach racing of pre-41 hotrods and pre-60 bikes near Crowdy Head.
Why do you like riding? It clears the head and gives me a thrill.
