The NSW Art Gallery is always a pleasure to visit. Home to pieces by one of my favourite Australian painters (Jeffery Smart 1921 – 2013), the pictures are part of the permanent collection. The paintings featured here are from a period of work in the early 1970′s that I particularly admire including Bus Terminus 1973 and Central Station II 1974-1975.
Outside, Brett Whiteley’s Almost Once sculpture of two matches, one spent and one whole, was a gift from the artist in 1991. It is made from black butt timber and fibreglass, it sits on a concrete plinth.
