Brewtown Newtown

When Brewtown Newtown opened in late 2013, it was the latest addition to the ever increasing list of good and interesting places in Sydney’s Inner West. Making our list of the best 25 experiences of 2013, the seasoned team of Charles Cameron (ex-Single Origin), Simon Triggs (owner of Gnome in Surry Hills) and Andrew Martin have consistently delivered cafe goers a great experience over the past twelve months, while expanding to include in-house coffee roasting and a patisserie to bake their widely popular Cronuts and other pastry treats.

Winner of the Best new cafe in the 2014 SMH Good Cafe Guide—and ‘two cups’ for their coffee—the well designed space features exposed brick walls, wooden beams and just the right mix of the old and new. The food menu is still the goods, with interesting breakfast selections including corn beef hash with peas and poached eggs—one of the best in town—and blacks sausage with bacon, boiled egg and hash browns.

And if you’re queueing for brunch, there is a pop up retail concept on the first floor called O’Connell Street Merchants selling a variety of products including Gascoigne & King candles and Three Over One clothes.
