Style Rider aims to document the world’s most stylish motorcycle riders, be they riders of classic, custom or cafe racer steeds. Focused on the intersection of motorcycle culture with individual style, here we speak to Takayoshi Nakagawa about riding an old Harley to his favourite campgrounds in Japan.
Name: Takayoshi Nakagawa
Residence: Tokyo, Japan
Occupation: Sales, Freewheelers & Company
Instagram: @xlch1959
Today’s ride: 1963 Harley Davidson XLH
Describe your style: Biker
Favourite item: My ‘San Mateo‘ leather jacket from Freewheelers & Company
Next purchase: A Hilleberg tent. I like to take my Harley and go camping, surrounded by nature. These tents are made in Europe and offer a balance of strength, ease of use, and comfort.
Style icon/inspiration: Rat Fink by artist Ed Roth.
Best local ride: Harajuku to the Tatsumi Parking Area by the bay. This spot offers the best night-view of Tokyo.
Best distance ride: Tokyo to Fumotoppara campsite near Mt Fuji. This is a magical place and easily accessible from the centre of Tokyo.
Tip for stylish riding: To be natural. Nothing forced.
Next motorcycle trip: To the beach in Chiba Prefecture, 110 kilometres south of Tokyo.
Why do you like riding? Riding bikes is a very natural thing for me. I started to ride bikes when I was a teenager, now I can’t imagine my life without bikes.
