Kwila cafe, named after a Papua New Guinean tree, is fresh addition to (lower) Foster Street in Surry Hills. Carved into a small ground floor space, owners Vic and Melissa have created a comfortable cafe with a focus on coffee and food with a hint of PNG about it. The fit out is relaxed with a colourful mural and reclaimed Kwila wood, while the service is friendly and atmosphere welcoming. Food at Kwila is fresh and seasonal with cold-pressed juices, Kwila-style eggs (smashed eggs with chimichurri), with bread and pastries from Luxe Bakery. Seasonal hearty salads and toasted sandwiches are offered at lunch making Kwila a great addition to a formerly no-go part of Foster Street.
